Farmers' market offering fresh veggies in fresh location

 

Not only are the fruit and veggies fresh, so is the location of the Spring River Farmers’ Market.

The market will kick off its third season this Saturday, May 25, in the Cherokee Village town center plaza.

The move marks a fresh start for what is expected to be an vibrant market season.

The market will be open every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. until October 12.

Do you have Powerball fever yet?

You might once you find out how much you could win.

According to the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery, Saturday’s Powerball jackpot is expected to reach a record $600 million.

The previous record was $587 million won on November 28, 2012.

All you have to do is match the five white ball numbers (1-59) and the red Powerball number (1-35).

The drawing will be held at 9:59 p.m. CST Saturday.

Of course, count on Region 8 News to bring you the winning numbers.

The Twin Lakes Treasure Hunt will be held from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Baxter County Fairgrounds.

Admission to the area-wide garage sale, antiques and flea market is $2 per person.

According to an email from the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce, attendees will enjoy multiple sales in an air-conditioned, weather free building.

Booth spaces are still available for vendors.  The cost is $25 for chamber members and $35 for non-members.  Tables are also available.

17 businesses apply for liquor licenses

Those are just some of the Sharp County businesses that applied for liquor licenses last week.

According to the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration's Alcoholic Beverage Control board, 17 businesses submitted applications to sell retail liquor.

Church to host gun show fundraiser

Church to host gun show fundraiser

Batesville First Assembly of God Church will hold a gun show on Friday and Saturday, May 3-4.

Admission is $5 with children under 12 admitted free with a paid adult.  Proceeds will go to the church’s building fund.

The show, which will be held in the church’s Family Life Center, will be open from 5 until 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
