Bradford woman steps forward to claim winning ticket

We have a winner!

Peggy Whitener of Bradford stepped forward Thursday to claim her winning Powerball ticket.

According to the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery, Whitener bought the $2 ticket with the $1 Powerplay option at Jordan's Kwik Stop #4 located at 1623 Malcolm Ave. in Newport.

Whitener matched 4 white ball numbers and the red Powerball number to win $10,000.

However, the Powerplay quadrupled her winnings to $40,000.

Beverly Nix, chief executive officer of St. Bernards Healthcare Associated Regional Providers (SHARP), has earned the status of fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).

Fellow status recognizes continued achievement in meeting high standards of professional development, excellence and leadership as a healthcare executive. She was formally recognized at the Convocation Ceremony on March 23 in Chicago.

St. Bernards announced Wednesday the addition of Dr. Robin Forward-Wise to its staff.

Born in Canada, Dr. Wise moved to Arkansas at an early age and grew up in Camden.

While many of us dreaded getting up an hour earlier Monday, Jesse Foster had 10,000 good reasons to jump out of bed.

The Bald Knob man had a $10,000 check he needed to pick up.

Jesse won the cash playing the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery.

He bought the winning $10 100x The Cash game ticket at the Bald Knob Travel Center.

ASUMH student ambassadors named

ASUMH student ambassadors named

Arkansas State University-Mountain Home (ASUMH) has named its student ambassadors for 2013.

The ambassadors assist the ASUMH administration in promoting the university.  They also represent the student body at special events and assist with recruiting students.

For their services, student ambassadors receive a scholarship.

This year's ambassadors are:

Heidi Botscharow has been named president of the Student Government Association  at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home.

The Mountain Home resident is currently enrolled in the funeral science program and holds an Associate of Arts degree from ASUMH.

Zachary Weaver, also of Mountain Home, was elected Vice President.  He is currently pursuing an Associate of Arts degree and hopes to work in television news production.
