Calico Rock woman awarded scholarship

 

Hannah Beth Wright of Calico Rock, a senior, has been selected to receive the Lillian Barton Scholarship for the fall semester at Arkansas State University, announced Dr. Mary Jane Bradley, director of Professional Education Programs and scholarship committee chair.

Wright’s field of study is secondary biological sciences education.  A Chancellor’s List student with a perfect 4.0 grade point average, Wright previously received the University Honors Scholarship and the Arkansas Governor’s Scholarship.

The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville’s Phi Theta Kappa chapter, an honor society for students of two-year colleges, inducted 25 new members Friday, April 12, 2013, during an induction ceremony.

Twenty-four students and three advisors represented Arkansas State University at the 2013 Arkansas Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference and Competition in Little Rock, on April 12-13, and walked away with a chapter-best 35 awards and honors.

Rebecca Justus has been hired as a counselor/student advisor in the Career Pathways program at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville. 

She received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro in 2007 and obtained a Master of Arts in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Tulsa in 2010.

Eleven Ozark Gateway girls have won scholarships to go to college.

The annual "Teen Girls Go to College" event was held Saturday, March 27, at the Arkansas State University-Mountain Home.

Held in conjunction with the Schliemann Center for Women's Health Education, the event helps girls learn about college options, enrollment, testing, financial aid, careers and other topics related to higher education.

International programs have been added to the Williams Baptist College framework, and with them a new face can also be seen around the campus. 

Adam Adams, a native of Troy, MO, recently arrived at Williams as the Director of International Programs.

According to a news release from WBC, Adams’ extensive educational background has helped to prepare him for work with international students. 

Jonesboro man receives ASU's highest award

Jonesboro man receives ASU's highest award

 

Hunter Petrus of Jonesboro was awarded ASU’s highest honor Thursday night at the 80th annual Student Honors Awards Ceremony.

Petrus received the R.E. Lee Wilson Award for 2013 for his “exemplary record of citizenship, scholarship and service during his student career at Arkansas State,” according to a news release from ASU.

Petrus is will graduate in May with a bachelor’s degree in business management and marketing.
