Applications sought for youth deer hunt | News

Time is running out to apply for a special youth deer hunt to be held later this month at Greers Ferry Lake.
The hunt will take place Thursday and Friday, December 20-21, in the Old Highway 25 Park.
A drawing will be held at the Greers Ferry Project Office on December 17. Selected hunters will be contacted by phone or email. Each hunter will be required to have an assistant at least 21 years of age who holds a valid hunting license and hunter education card. The young hunters will be limited to muzzleloaders.
Up to three permits will be issued to hunters, ages 7 to 15.
Applications may be obtained at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Greers Ferry Project Office, Highway 25 North in Heber Springs or by calling (501) 362-2416. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. weekdays.
The last day to apply is Friday, December 14.
