Local women seriously injured in car crash

Two Cleburne County women were seriously injured in a car crash Tuesday morning in central Missouri.

The crash happened at 7:30 a.m. on Interstate 70 in Saline County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 68-year-old Evelyn A. Bullington of Higden, AR, was eastbound when her 2008 Chevy ran off onto the left shoulder before veering off the right side of the highway.

Investigators say Bullington apparently overcorrected and her car veered off the left side of the road again and struck the median cable before rolling onto the passenger side.

Bullington and her passenger, 68-year-old Dorthy J. Hunt of Higden, were both airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia with serious injuries.
