A Region 8 teenager was killed Tuesday morning when she lost control of her car on a wet highway and collided with another car.
The crash happened just after 7:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 62, three miles west of Salem.
Corporal Ronnie D. Steward of the Arkansas State Police said 17-year-old Angel D. Jones of Salem was traveling westbound when she lost control of her 1993 Honda Accord negotiating a curve on wet pavement.
The Honda crossed the inside westbound lane and spun into the eastbound lane where it struck a guardrail.
Jones’ vehicle then collided with an eastbound 2010 Toyota Prius driven by 67-year-old James F. Winget, Sr. of Mountain Home.
The Prius then crossed both westbound lanes and traveled off the north side of the highway.
Jones’ car finally came to rest in the inside westbound lane.
She was taken by ambulance to the Fulton County Hospital in Salem where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Sheriff’s deputies transported Winget to the hospital with unspecified injuries.
