A Region 8 man died Friday morning when he lost control of his dump truck and hit a tree.

According to Arkansas State Police Trooper Mike McNeill, 67-year-old Phillip Jackson of Conway was northbound when his 1987 International dump truck veered off the road into the southbound ditch.  The truck then collided with a tree before coming to a stop in the northbound ditch.

Jackson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock where he was pronounced dead at 12:15 p.m.

According to Trooper McNeill’s report, the road conditions at the time of the crash were dry and the weather was clear.
