Motorcyclist charged after crashing into ambulance

A Calico Rock man was charged with careless driving after police say he slammed his motorcycle into a parked ambulance.

The crash happened Wednesday afternoon on the parking lot of Ozark EMS, State Highway 56.

According to Trooper Jason C. Baethke’s report, 23-year-old Antonio Sanchez was making a right turn onto Park Street when his Aprilia motorcycle careened into the parking lot and struck an ambulance.

Sanchez was taken to the Calico Rock Medical Center by ambulance with undisclosed injuries.

Trooper Baethke said Sanchez would be charged with Driving on a Suspended License and Careless and Prohibited Driving.

In an unrelated case, 19-year-old Johnny Jones of Oxford was charged with Reckless Driving after his 2005 Suzuki motorcycle hit a pickup truck head-on.

The crash happened on State Highway 69 in Melbourne just after 7 p.m Wednesday.

Trooper Baethke, who investigated the crash, reported Jones was traveling at “a very high rate of speed” when 18-year-old Sydney Shrable’s 2007 GMC Sierra pulled out of the Valergo gas station.

The motorcycle then struck the passenger side of the truck head on.

Jones was injured in the crash.  He was taken to the White River Medical Center for treatment.  Shrable was not hurt.
