Sheriff: Lightning may have started deadly house fire | News
Sheriff’s investigators say a house fire that killed a woman early Thursday morning may have been the result of a lightning strike.
According to Chief Deputy Jeremy Clark of the White County Sheriff's Office, the fire started around 6:30 a.m. at a home in the 400-block of Clay Road in the Albion area.
While battling the flames, firefighters reportedly discovered the body of 85-year-old Mae Robertson.
Detectives were called to the scene and began collecting evidence.
Clark says the investigation is ongoing, but preliminary findings indicate the fire was started by a lightning strike on the house.
Robertson’s body has been turned over to the White County Coroner’s Office.
