Missouri State Archives release 1962 death certificates

 

Approximately 49,000 death certificates from 1962 are now available online in the Missouri State Archives.

Each January the Archives releases the records, which it receives from the Department of Health and Senior Services, as they become available to the public following a 50-year period.

Mega weekend coming to Jubilee Family Church

 

Jubilee Family Church in Batesville is planning for a mega-weekend.

Beginning Wednesday, January 30, Guiness World Record-holder Steve Carrier will bring his Mega Force Ministries to the church.

Carrier, who has been featured on ESPN, Ripley’s Believe It or Not, Steve Harvey’s Big Show and America’s Got Talent, will be preaching and demonstrating his amazing feats of strength.

Performances will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and at 10:15 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday.

Reverend Vernon Wayne Johnson, 63, of Corning, AR., went to meet his Lord on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at Peachtree Hospice Care at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, AR., after a long illness. Reverend Johnson was born in Knoxville, TN., on April 29, 1949 to his late parents Vernon Leon Johnson and Virginia Ruth (Anderson) Johnson. He was an Elder and member of the Arkansas United Methodist Church Annual Conference.

Banquet of Champions to benefit New Life Children's Home

 

A Banquet of Champions will be held Saturday, January 12, at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria of New Life Children's Home in Oil Trough.

All proceeds will to to the purchase of a new 15-passenger van to provide transportation for children at the home.

With their new cottages in operation, the home is admitting more children and the van will be "extremely significant" in the home's daily functions.

The banquet will feature a catfish dinner catered by Doc's.

John 3:16 Ministry will host its first-ever Winter Blast on Saturday, January 12, at the ASU Convocation Center in Jonesboro.

The event kicks off with a silent auction from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. followed by a fish fry at 5 p.m.  A live auction will be held at 6 o’clock with live entertainment provided at 7.

There will also be a free Kids Korner featuring bounce houses, games and kid-friendly entertainment.
