New York Times bestselling author Acton Bowen, Buddy Mullins of the Gaither vocal band "Testify" and William "Chris" Shelton invite you to answer “A Call to Honor.”

The event will be held Saturday, April 20, at 6 p.m. at the Paragould Community Center.

Shelton, who is the founder of Reach Out Christ’s Kingdom (R.O.C.K.) Ministries in Piggott and the event organizer, describes it as an “inter-denominational, bipartisan call to a higher standard for our youth, men, women, business, political and religious leaders.”

Spring River Presbyterian Women's annual flea market set

 

The Spring River Presbyterian Women will hold their annual flea market on Saturday, April 20, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.

There will be a wide variety of treasures, shoes, purses, jewelry, kitchenware, glassware, linens, drapes, tools, toys, books and many other items too numerous to list.

Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Proceeds from the event will support many mission projects.

The church is located at 151 Wahpeton Hill Road in Hardy, just off Hwy 62/412 south of the Hardy Spring River Bridge.  Just look for the signs.

Trying to find time in your hectic schedule to sit down to a family dinner?  It’s not easy.

To help, the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville’s Community and Technical Division is offering a freezer cooking workshop on Monday, April 8, from 6 until 8 p.m.

Instructor Jennifer Cannon will show participants some time-saving tips and techniques to plan ahead to cook and store healthy, homemade meals in the freezer.

Attendees will also receive a do-it-yourself recipe guidebook for their own freezer cooking.

Celebrate Easter by the River this weekend

 

More than 25,000 Easter eggs will be up for grabs this Saturday at the second annual Easter by the River in Batesville.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Riverside Park.

Prizes will be awarded to kids in four ages groups:  0-2, 3-6, 7-9 and 10-12.

There will also be plenty of food, games and music to keep the whole family happy and entertained.d

NEA Child Safety Day this Saturday

NEA Child Safety Day this Saturday

 

The 2013 Northeast Arkansas Child Safety Day will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. this Saturday at the NEA Fairgrounds in Jonesboro.

In addition to free child ID kits, there will be:

  • Child safety seat checks and distribution
  • Police K9 unit demonstration
  • Show and tell by 911 first responders, including police, fire, ambulance and air evacuation
  • Door prizes and giveaways
  • Food and ice cream

Admission is free.
