Museum to offer day camp

Registration is now open for the Old Independence Regional Museum’s educational day camp.

Campers will explore Native American life through hands-on activities like making coil pots, cornhusk dolls, and medicine pouches.  They will also sample Native American foods such as corncakes and popcorn.

The camp is open to first through third graders and will be held Monday, June 10, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Deadline to apply for Century Farm status fast approaching

 

Time is running out for your family to make history.

The Arkansas Agriculture Department is accepting applications for the 2013 Arkansas Century Farm program.

To be eligible for the designation, applications must be postmarked no later than May 31.

The program recognizes Arkansas’s agricultural heritage and honors families who have owned and farmed the same land for at least 100 years.

In 2012, the first year of the program, 83 farms were certified.

ASH FLAT, AR (KAIT) – Love has a tendency to find people when they least expect it.

For Becky and Greg Foreman, they found each other and fell in love after going through separate tragedies in their lives.

The Foremans say they have finally reached what they consider to be their ‘happily ever after,' but getting there was no fairy tale.

"The good Lord helped me a whole bunch," Greg said, "or I wouldn't be here today."

Public invited to answer "A Call to Honor"

Public invited to answer "A Call to Honor"

New York Times bestselling author Acton Bowen, Buddy Mullins of the Gaither vocal band "Testify" and William "Chris" Shelton invite you to answer “A Call to Honor.”

The event will be held Saturday, April 20, at 6 p.m. at the Paragould Community Center.

Shelton, who is the founder of Reach Out Christ’s Kingdom (R.O.C.K.) Ministries in Piggott and the event organizer, describes it as an “inter-denominational, bipartisan call to a higher standard for our youth, men, women, business, political and religious leaders.”
