UACCB commemorates Black History Month with events, concert | Events
February is Black History Month. To commemorate the event, the Black Student Association of the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville (UACCB) has planned Heritage Week, February 13-18.
Several events are free to the public, including:
- Monday, February 13 at 6 p.m. in Independence Hall auditorium: Arkansas Blues History Presentation - Dr. Cliff E. Jones, UACCB vice chancellor of academics
- Thursday, February 16 at Noon in the Nursing and Allied Health lecture hall: Reflections – Past, Present and Future: Black History - presentations by Dr. Lonnie Williams of ASU, Fayth Hill Washington of the Hoxie 21, and a presentation by the Batesville Preschool
- Saturday, February 18 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Ethel O. Miller Gymnasium: Health Fair Expo – UACCB nursing students.
Other activities planned for UACCB students, faculty and staff include a soul food buffet, 70’s throwback party and a historical tour of Memphis.
UACCB's celebration of Black History Month will culminate with a concert by the Harlem Gospel Choir at 7 p.m. Monday, February 27, in Independence Hall auditorium.
Tickets for the concert may be purchased for $10 each at First Community Bank’s branches in Batesville, and Cave City location, the main branch of Citizens Bank, and the UACCB Cashier’s Window in the Main Classroom Building.
