MN sex offender arrested in Region 8

IZARD CO, AR (KAIT) – A Minnesota sex offender has been arrested in Izard County.

According to a news release from Sheriff Tate Lawrence, 24-year-old Joshua Dewaine Scholl was arrested for failing to register as a sex offender after the sheriff's department received a tip on his whereabouts.

Lawrence says Scholl is locked up in the Izard County Detention center awaiting extradition.

RANDOLPH COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – The Randolph County Sheriff's Department is searching for a man after he reportedly ran from police following a three-county car chase.

According to Randolph County Sheriff Gary Tribble, officers tried to pull over a man around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Tribble says the man ran a stop sign and then took off when an officer tried to pull him over.

The chase continued into Lawrence and Sharp counties and ended on Highway 63 W when police used spike strips to stop the car.

Tribble tells Region 8 News that several agencies helped with the chase.

A convicted sex offender who failed to notify authorities that he had moved to a new home is out of jail after a judge reduced his bond.

Baxter County sheriff’s deputies arrested Stephen Michael Kotlowski, 49, of Lakeview and charged him with failure to comply with the Arkansas Sex Offender Registry law.

According to an email from Sheriff John Montgomery, Kotlowski had been living in the 1600-block of Central Boulevard in Bull Shoals.  On March 25 he moved to the 200-block of Boat Dock Road in Lakeview.

If you’re going to steal someone’s credit card and use it to buy a bunch of stuff, try to avoid stores with surveillance cameras.

Investigators say an Izard County man didn’t follow that piece of advice and now he’s in jail.

Kenton Johnson, 50, of Pineville was arrested Monday on a Marion County felony warrant for commercial burglary, theft of property and shoplifting.

Sheriff’s investigators say Johnson and another person were captured on camera stealing items from several Yellville stores, as well as an employee’s purse.

A Mountain Home man faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after police say he stole a car and wrecked it a short time later.

Baxter County sheriff’s deputies arrested 20-year-old John Eric Saathoff on charges including residential burglary and driving while intoxicated, among others.

According to a news release from Sheriff John Montgomery, deputies were called to a home on County Road 916 shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday regarding the theft of a car.

Looking to buy a newer car?  The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office might be able to help.

On Wednesday, April 10, the sheriff’s office will auction off this four-door 2001 Ford Taurus.

According to an email from Sheriff John Montgomery, the bidding will start at 10 a.m. at Ultimate Ford, 2448 Hwy. 62 West in Mountain Home.  The car may be viewed and inspected at that location before the sale.

Only one problem:  the card they used to buy all that stuff doesn’t belong to them.
