Sheriff's office searching for Level 3 sex offender | Crime
A Level 3 sex offender is once again wanted by the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office.
Matthias Jones is accused of failing to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
Jones was convicted in 1994 of sexual assault in the first degree. He was found guilty of engaging in intercourse with a 14-year-old girl.
This is the second time this year he has failed to comply with registration requirements. In July, the sheriff’s office arrested Jones after he moved to a new address without informing authorities. According to the sheriff’s office, Jones was living within “close proximity” to the Nelson-Wilkes Elementary School.
A Level 3 offender is considered a “high-risk” to re-offend.
If you have any information that can help authorities find him, call the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office at (870) 425-7000.
