Man arrested after calling 911 to report killing his dad | Crime
A man who called 911 to report killing his dad is behind bars on a $20,000 bond.
But, Kyle Riggs, 29, of Fairview is not charged with murder.
According to an email from Sheriff Roger Vickers, on Sunday, Sept. 22, Riggs called the Marion County Sheriff’s Office to report he had choked his father to death.
Riggs then said he would be waiting for officers at the Fairview Cemetery.
About 13 officers responded to the cemetery, but Riggs was nowhere in sight.
Officers then went to his home where they discovered him standing outside with a large hunting knife and a used syringe in his possession, the sheriff said.
As for his father, officers found him inside the home asleep.
Vickers said the father told officers his son had been “talking crazy” all day long and had displayed “very odd behavior,” including threatening to kill him with a chopping ax.
Kyle Riggs reportedly told officers he had been “using meth excessively the past few days and wanted officers to kill him.”
Deputies took Riggs into custody without incident and charged him with communicating a false alarm and possession of drug paraphernalia.
