Deputies go door-to-door checking on sex offenders | Crime
Detectives in one Region 8 community went door-to-door Saturday morning, checking on registered sex offenders.
White County sheriff’s detectives checked on a total of 46 offenders. Four were found to be non-compliant. Deputies were unable to contact 11 others, according to an email from the sheriff’s office.
The four found to be non-compliant will be investigated with charges filed once investigations are complete.
Chief Deputy Phillip Miller said that detectives with the department’s Domestic Violence Unit will be working to contact those offenders who were not located. He said additional arrests may be forthcoming.
“In addition to the offenders coming to our office to register, we are also going to their homes and putting them on notice that they are being monitored,” Miller said.
