Missouri sex offender wanted for 2 years found in Arkansas | Crime
A convicted sex offender wanted in Missouri reportedly told sheriff’s deputies he has been living in Arkansas for about two years.
Kevin Charles Sheek, 35, of Yellville was arrested Wednesday on multiple misdemeanor and felony warrants out of both states including tampering with a motor vehicle, fraud, hot checks and failing to register as a sex offender.
Marion County Sheriff Roger Vickers said in an email to Your Region 8 that Sheek was convicted in 2006 in Miller County, MO, for deviate sexual assault against a 22-year-old man.
Following his release from prison, Sheek fled Missouri and has been deemed a “non-compliant” sex offender there, the sheriff stated.
While being booked into the Marion County Jail, Sheek reportedly claimed he had lived in the area for about two years. Sheek never registered in Arkansas and he has not been assigned an assessment level, Vickers said.
He is currently being held in lieu of $25,000 bond for failing to register and $1,700 bond on local warrants out of Flippin and Marion County.
