Suspect's alleged steal was not a good deal | Crime
Investigators say a Region 8 woman stole a car engine worth $800 then sold it for just $13.
Jessica Lynn Smith, 26, of Gassville is charged with breaking and entering and theft of property.
Baxter County sheriff’s deputies say she stole a 4-cylinder motor from the back of a pickup truck in the 2900-block of Highway 201 South.
The victim told investigators he contacted several local scrap yards and discovered that the motor had been sold for scrap at Twin Lakes Recycling for just $13.39.
Sales records showed Smith had sold the motor and signed the paperwork, Sheriff John Montgomery said.
On Saturday Smith was arrested and booked into the Baxter County Detention Center. She is currently free on $5,000 bond awaiting an appearance in Circuit Court on July 25.
