Stabbing death ruled justifiable homicide

Prosecutors say the stabbing death of a Lawrence County man was justifiable homicide.

On December 5, 2012, Baxter County sheriff’s deputies were called to a home Midway.

When deputies arrived, they found 20-year-old Roy Lee Hogans of Strawberry dead.

Sheriff John Montgomery said in a news release, Hogans had been stabbed three times in the chest.

During the investigation, Montgomery said detectives interviewed 12 witnesses and executed three search warrants at different locations.

Update: Batesville man charged with "multiple counts" of child porn

Independence County Sheriff Steve Jeffery says a Batesville man now faces "multiple counts of computer child pornography."

Grant Rader, 34, is currently being held at the Independence County Jail on $100,000.  

Tuesday morning officers from the Independence County Sheriff's Department, along with Arkansas State police and Homeland Security Investigations, executed a search warrant at Rader's home.

Sheriff Jeffery said the search was the result of an investigation into computer child pornography.

Child porn investigation leads to Batesville man’s arrest

A Batesville man was arrested Tuesday following an investigation into computer child pornography.

Grant Rader is being held in the Independence County Jail, according to a news release from Sheriff Steve Jeffery.

Tuesday morning officers from the Independence County Sheriff’s Department, along with the Arkansas State Police and Homeland Security Investigations, executed a search warrant at Rader’s home in Batesville.

Rader was taken into custody and is currently awaiting the filing of formal charges, Jeffery said.

A bit of advice:  If police question you about your suspected involvement in a crime, it’s best not to lie about your name.

Police say that’s what a Cave City man did recently and he wound up facing even more charges.

On Sunday afternoon Chief Nathan Stephens answered a call at JB’s Tobacco regarding a theft that had occurred the day before.

While reviewing the store’s surveillance video, Chief Stephens said he saw a man pick up a $20 electronic cigarette while the clerk’s back was turned.

A Searcy man was arrested Friday after police say they found more than $13,000 worth of meth in his car.

Adam Manor, 27, was charged with possession of Schedule II controlled substance with purpose to deliver (methamphetamine), driving on a suspended license,  and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms.

According to a news release from Officer Steve Hernandez of the Searcy Police Department, Patrolman Todd Dewitt stopped Manor for running a stop sign on Pleasure Street at Lucy Street.

Man arrested after he's found camped out on someone's property

 

A Clarkridge resident who had been out of state for several months returned to find his mobile home damaged and a man camped out in his driveway.

Edward Allen Seace, 51, was arrested on charges of residential burglary, theft of property and criminal mischief.

Seace, who recently moved to Baxter County from New Hampshire, is accused of living out of his 1976 Dodge RV at a home on Deerwood Drive.
