Looking for something for the kids to do this summer?

Then check out the archeology camp at Davidsonville Historic State Park.

During the camp, kids will learn about prehistoric and historic Arkansas through activities and travel.  They’ll participate in mock digs, make prehistoric tools, take a trip to the ASU museum and go on treasure hunts.

The three-day camp, which will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday June 12-14, is open to children 8-12 years of age.

Reservations are required.  The $75 registration fee includes travel, snacks and drinks.

Civil War marker to be dedicated at Jacksonport

The Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission and the Jackson County Historical Society will dedicate a marker commemorating the 1862 shelling of Jacksonport, according to Betsy Watson, president of the historical society.

The dedication will be held on Sunday, June 2, the actual 151st anniversary of the shelling, at Jacksonport State Park at 4:00 p.m. The public is invited to attend this dedication. 

On June 2, 1862, Capt. Joseph Fry of the Confederate Navy, arrived at Jacksonport aboard his ship, the “Maurepas.”

Mike Dollins "Cruizing" to Bluesday Tuesday

 

For tonight's Bluesday Tuesday concert in Newport, KASU Radio brings back Mike Dollins and the Cruize Brothers.

The concert begins at 7 p.m. at the Newport Country Club, 703 Walker Dr., and is free to the public. KASU will pass the hat for the band.

Bert’s Fine Art America profile reveals he was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and grew up in Little Rock.  He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the University of Central Arkansas.
