Storage units theft leads to drug arrest in Norfork

NORFORK, AR (KAIT)- A man was arrested in Norfork after Baxter County deputies got reports of suspicious activity at some mini storage units in Salesville Wednesday.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says Christopher Rick, 36, was arrested while traveling on Highway 5 towards Norfork. A Baxter County deputy met the white Chevrolet truck and after a chase, he was arrested.

Another vehicle had already been located and searched in connection to the thefts from the storage units.

The 15th Annual Piggott Heritage Park Car Show zooms into town this weekend, May 17-19.

The events begin tonight with a chicken wing dinner followed by karaoke in the Heritage Park amphitheater.

On Saturday morning the Piggott Lions Club will once again serve up a $5 pancake breakfast at the Piggott Community Center.  That afternoon participants will be treated to a pork steak dinner before the cruise to downtown.

Couple finds love after overcoming separate tragedies

ASH FLAT, AR (KAIT) – Love has a tendency to find people when they least expect it.

For Becky and Greg Foreman, they found each other and fell in love after going through separate tragedies in their lives.

The Foremans say they have finally reached what they consider to be their ‘happily ever after,' but getting there was no fairy tale.

"The good Lord helped me a whole bunch," Greg said, "or I wouldn't be here today."

Elementary school focusing on health in curriculum

BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT)- According to
the CDC, 66 percent of Arkansans are overweight, but there may be hope at one
Region 8 school who has incorporated health and wellness into their
curriculum. 

Eagle Mountain Magnet Elementary School in
Batesville received a national award last year for their efforts in creating a
healthier school for their students. The school has been deemed a Health and
Wellness Magnet School.

Eagle Mountain Magnet is one of 250
schools across the nation that was honored at the Healthy Schools Program
Forum last fall.
