2012 Vacation Bible School

Gethsemane Baptist Church

200 SE 6th St. in Walnut Ridge

July 16-20, 6 p.m. 

Preschool (age 4) through 12th grade (age 18).  Busses will run every night.

Calling all race car fans, this year's theme is DRIVE!

Will include classes, music, giant inflatables, games and snacks.

Meet May's teacher of the Month

HIGHLAND, AR (KAIT) -
As we approach the time to select our Teacher of the Year, we have one more
Teacher of the Month to share with you.

May's teacher teaches English and journalism at
Highland High School.

Let me introduce to you, May's Teacher of the Month,
Jamie Scott.

Junior Paige Fuller said Scott was one of her favorite
teachers. "She's fun, she's out going. She really helps anybody in any
situation there in. Whether you need help in school work or with a bully or
anything like that." Fuller said.

White County judge candidate hospitalized for spider bite

SEARCY, AR (AP) - A White County judge candidate who was bitten on the hand by a snake last month is recovering from a spider bite to the same hand.

The Daily Citizen reported in Wednesday's editions that Bill Haynie was adjusting a water valve at his home near Searcy last week when he was bitten by what doctors believe was a black widow spider.

Haynie suffered chest pain, stomach cramps and facial swelling and was taken to White County Medical Center before being transferred to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock Saturday.

If you bought a pair of Skechers Shape-Ups believing they would help you tone up, you’re due for a refund.

Skechers USA has agreed to settle a lawsuit over how it marketed its Shape-Ups, Tone-Ups and Resistance Runner athletic shoes.

The lawsuit alleged that without adequate support for its claims, Skechers claimed the rocker-bottom shoes helped wearers lose weight, burn calories, improve circulation, fight cellulite and strengthen thigh, buttock and back muscles.
